Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late[cl-r] | Reveal Trailer

One thing that we love about the Evolution Championship Series besides the massive amount of fighting game talent gathered in one place, is the new information we are given.

After the Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[ST] Grand Finals, we were presented with the latest coming evolution of the game; Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r].

 Reveal Trailer

This is something that did not surprise me, we got leaks a while ago confirming this brand new Under Night In-Birth addition some months ago.  However, seeing it in action and all the brand new addition to character movements and the promise of balance leads everyone mouths watering; at the same time, this is a cause for concern to many.

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[ST] has some of the BEST balancing we have ever seen in a fighting game.  I can say this with confidence since the person who is considered the best character in the game does not dominant every tournament, we see multiple characters being chosen within the Top 8, and the worst character in the game is often present within said Top 8, which shows his viability even amongst top tiers.  This new game is going to be introducing new moves, but could also have additional mechanics.  This is going to effect tiers and balance…and possibly not in a good direction.  We will just have to see.

I do not care about the new character at all; we already have similar characters in the way of Weiss Schnee (BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle‘s rendition of the RWBY character), Jin Kisaragi (BlazBlue), and Mitsuru (Persona 4 Arena).  Besides just the default ice powers, he seems to be primped and proper and too much like the “uppity” archetype we often see from ice-users.

I am hoping that he is not the only addition we see, as I want more down-and-dirty fighting types, or maybe cheerful brawler types (like Makoto Nanaya or Chie Satonaka).  Hopefully Under Night In-Birth Exe: Late[cl-r] has more in store for us, perhaps some additional Melty Blood characters?
