This episode was more-or-less the grand reveal of the boss of Passione; Diavolo. While I expected someone who looked older, considering what Risotto said during their encounter back in Episode 27, “Those eyes don’t belong to a young man”. Not to mention during the second opening that Golden Wind has, it appears as though he has short-hair rather than long-hair. My guess is that he probably has a third personality; similar to how in the King of Hell manga, the leader of the Blood Sect’s son has multiple personas (Baby, Hyur, and Kwang).
This episode proved what I talked about in my Episode 32 prediction; Polnareff took on Diavolo and lost miserably. Even more so, this also backs reinforces the thoughts that Jean should have contacted Jotaro who has the ability to stop time. More so than that, why did Jotaro not go looking for Polnareff when he realized that his comrade had not contacted him after looking for the man with the arrow? I feel that Jotaro vs Diavolo would have been a good fight, but one that Jotaro would have won easily since he can actually kill someone during the time he has stopped.
The big thing about this episode is that Polnareff dies, however, something tells me that is not completely the case. Polnareff did get a chance to use the arrow, and even Diavolo had to step back in awe and caution from the brilliant light shown. Moreover, Silver Chariot began to melt due to the effects of it and a mysterious entity appeared as Polnareff expired. I am sure it is probably Polnareff, but I have no idea what form he will take and how long it will be effective (as I do believe he committed self-sacrifice with the intent of stopping Diavolo long enough for the others to retrieve the arrow).
