MK11 | Terminator T-800 Gameplay Trailer

After the Kombat Pack announcement, everyone had mixed feelings about who we were getting; but most people were legitimately excited.  While we actually had reveals for Sindel and Nightwolf before the actual trailer, I was was surprised to see that Terminator T-800 was actually arriving before the Queen of Outworld.

Today we are greeted with his official gameplay, which shows off some moves that he is capable of doing and one of his Fatalities.  Also, there are a couple costumes at the end of the trailer for those who have early access as well, I am quite looking forward to Cassie Cage’s!

Go ahead and watch the trailer below, I’ll leave my impressions afterwards.  Feel free to also comment about your thoughts and impressions.  Early access will start for Terminator T-800 on October 8th, 2019.

 Impressions

Seeing Arnie in a Mortal Kombat game is crazy, but considering the action star has did many bloody movies, it makes sense.  The Terminator is a cult classic, my favorite definitely being Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

A lot of his combos from what I see appear to be heavy hitting, short combos into either a grapple or shotgun blast.  Also, he seems to have an anti-air shotgun and grapple which could possibly lead into a combo of some sort.

One interesting mechanic I do see is that, when defeated, he is left as the metal skeleton robot that the Terminator series is known for.  I am wondering if for Terminator T-800 it will be similar to D’Vorah’s ability to fight as a bug when defeated?  More than likely will not be a standard preset for tournaments but will be fun for those who wish to use it in custom lobbies.

His fatality leaves quite a lot to be desired within the first initial hits, but after the time warp to a hellish future governed by murderous robots, it all becomes worth it.  I am wondering what his second Fatality will be, considering the ending of his first one goes absolutely crazy.

To be fair, I am not too much of a fan of the simplicity of how his fighting style looks.  However, it is Arnold and you cannot expect too much from a cyborg who’s primarily supposed to be able to kill easily and is hard to kill.  They did a very good job with his likeness, and he does look to be viable within the right hands.  I will take it for what it is and hopefully try him out if I see some appealing things after release by the Mortal Kombat community.

Cassie Cage as Harley Quinn

Of the characters they showed, the only thing I really liked was Kano as Cyborg and Cassie Cage as Harley Quinn.  To be fair, I do not play either one of those characters (I did use Kano for a bit however), but I KNOW people are going to be pumped for Cassandra.  She looks so god as Harley Quinn, and it just further shows the collaboration between DC Comics and NetherRealm Studios.
