【DAN DA DAN】Episode 11 Impressions

While it’s been painfully obvious from the previous two episodes, we know that Momo has feelings for Okarun that stretch beyond just friendship. We see this from her getting upset when she believes that Ken was making out with Shiratori and even pesters him for an explanation regarding the peculiar situation they found themselves in. Moreover, Momo actually teased Okarun about his reasoning behind getting stronger, hoping for him to possibly say it was because he was smitten with her.

Episode 11 picks up after the introduction of Jiji, Momo’s childhood friend and first crush. This gives an opportunity to put Okarun within the hot seat and figure out exactly what his feelings are. While we see how worrisome Ken’s demeanor is, it cannot be argued whether-or-not it’s due to a fear of abandonment or jealousy related to romantic feelings. Wondering whether-or-not Momo would stay kind to him doesn’t make sense considering she already has friends and was still nice…unless you count of course that he knows that Momo is a bit too friendly with him for just being a normal friend. The fact that Ken believes he’s a source of romantic affection or a close bond that teeters beyond the boundary of friendship says something.

Regardless, we get to see the dynamic of Momo and Okarun a bit more and the realization that Ken comes to by the end of the episode. Considering that he know is sure of his true feelings for Momo-chan, I am now wondering if he has the courage to act upon them, or will simply avert his gaze and treat her nonchalantly like before once he realized she was “cute”. Only time will tell.
