Early access to Shang Tsung starts on June 18th, 2019.
One thing that myself and many others are excited about is that NetherRealm used the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie’s version of Shang Tsung by making his likeness exactly that of his actor, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. Moreover, they gave him a few lines from the Mortal Kombat movie, such as “And now a taste of things to come” and “Your soul is mine!”.
A few of Shang Tsung’s moves look familiar, such as the fireballs (both vertical and horizontal), and the ability to morph into your opponent and fight with their moveset. Also, he seems to be able to use a few of the ninja character’s moves in his regular arsenal; Smoke, Reptile, Rain, and Ermac are seen in normal moves while Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Noob Saibot are in his Fatal Blow.
To be fair, Shang Tsung looks like a very fun character, but I wish he would have morphed into a few other Mortal Kombat characters. Seeing a few other characters, like Quan’Chi or Shinnok, would have been cool along with his current moveset. However, I believe it was done this way so people will stop asking for ninja characters and allow them to do their own thing.
I believe Shang Tsung is going to be a monster in the hands of someone who is well versed with the entire cast of Mortal Kombat 11. Being able to transform into your opponent has its uses, and luckily they limited that ability to the character you are fighting, though maybe if it is meter burned you could transform into a different character at random? At any rate, Shang Tsung definitely brought the hype and NetherRealm Studios definitely went all out on this one! I believe I speak for most when I say that June 18th cannot come soon enough!
Kombat Pack 1 ImpressionsThe very first Kombat Pack already looks good to me! As far as characters goes, I will probably not be playing Shang Tsung and Nightwolf despite how cool they are because they do not fit my style (never have), but I am highly interested in Sindel and Spawn.
Now, we have two guest DLC characters remaining, and while I want to say they could be anyone, we are pretty much confirmed that the leak was real. According to the leak, we would be getting the characters already confirmed above; Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel, and Spawn. In addition to these characters, we are also supposed to be getting Joker, Sheeva, Ash Williams, Fujin and Terminator. Supposeding this is true (and it mostly likely is), the two guest characters will either be Joker, Ash Williams, Fujin, or Terminator. My guess is that we could be getting Terminator and Ash, mainly because a new movie called “Terminator: Dark Fate” is coming. My guess we will get Joker closer to when “Joker”, starring Joaquin Phoenix, comes this October.
I have not bought Kombat Pack 1, but I definitely will for Spawn and Sindel. I am also very interested in Joker and Sheeva from the leaks. Well done NetherRealm Studios, you have definitely won me over on DLC, and thank you for releasing them faster than Dragon Ball FighterZ releases theirs (they are killing me!).
