Fortnite is famous for their crossovers with absolutely EVERYTHING. The most popular Battle Royale has turned into an iconic game where anything is possible. We’re talking collaborations from movies like Back to the Future and Pulp Fiction; anime like Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen; and even entertainers like Hatsune Miku and Bruno Mars. Already CAPCOM has given some iconic franchises to be used, including that of Street Fighter.
Arc System Works is a rather niche company compared to some, but it’s name is known by the populace due to Dragon Ball FighterZ and the upcoming Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Why not use Fortnite to further promote GUILTY GEAR STRIVE, especially as publicity for their upcoming 2.0 version of GGST?

I believe that this is a smart collaboration, considering that Fortnite is a game played regularly by MILLIONS of people. It’s concurrent players are within the 10’s of thousands easily. It’s very easy exposure to people who probably haven’t even heard of what the GUILTY GEAR franchise is.
Easy generation of funds and simultaneously good advertisement. I think the skins themselves have the possibility to give Arc System Works a nice amount of revenue to fund the next game within the GUILTY GEAR franchise.
Considering an anime is out, GUILTY GEAR STRIVE: DUAL RULERS, it’s also an easy way to promote that or drawn in more people who may appreciate the story or visual aesthetic. All-in-all, you cannot go wrong with putting this into one of the most ongoing popular games of ALL-TIME.
CHARACTERSI feel like the characters that would fit into Fortnite are those that naturally use guns. While that rules out the normal people like Ky and Sol, I do not believe they would be the best choices anyway considering they have much cooler characters to pull from. Iconic characters can work if they are more well known, like CAPCOM choosing Ryu and Chun-Li from Street Fighter, but a niche series within the anime fighter genre is pushing that. Here are my choices below within order of importance.
Oh! I also want to add. The character’s taunt can be their custom emote; one which comes either built into the character itself or as a standalone which can be sold to players who aren’t interested in the skin.
- HAPPY CHAOS — While I hate Happy Chaos as a character due to the broken nature of his kit, his design is absurdly good; the Halo above his head, the blue skin, his sun glasses, etc. While being GUILTY GEAR STRIVE‘s most well known gun wielder, they have also one of the “coolest” designs.
- ELPHELT VALENTINE — I think this character should have two skins; one from Guilty Gear Xrd with an alternate color version which was introduced in Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, the next is their skin found within Strive. I think this would probably be the most popular skin since I believe skins for girl characters sell more.
- UNIKA — Very cool design; her built-in emote should transform her into the state found in her “Weapon’s Free” Overdrive. As the character introduced within GUILTY GEAR STRIVE: DUAL RULERS, I think it’s fitting for her to be available. I believe many people would appreciate the built-in emote as well.
- GOLDLEWIS — There isn’t many skins for “big guys”, so I think he’d stand out simply because of that. Also, his coffin that is used to attack would be an AMAZING back-bling, possibly with the alien inside reacting whenever you got a kill.
To be fair, there are a few other characters I would like outside of those with a just a gun (I did not include Baiken within the list above simply because she’s one-handed, and some gun holding animations in Fortnite make the use of both hands). The top 5 I believe would do very well (within no particular order) are:
Bridget, Ramlethal Valentine, Nagoriyuki, I-No, and Anji Mito.
I believe the above characters represent different aesthetic styles, community, and sensibilities. I think it’d be something for everyone. While I think it’s possible for a series to get many skins, it seems to be anywhere from 3-5 on average with more coming down the line dependent upon interest within the series. I’d prefer those who actually wield a gun first, but wouldn’t care at all as long as we got some GUILTY GEAR series representation.
What do you think? Let me know!
