This trailer introduced 4 characters really: Magneto, Green Goblin, Carnage, and “Mr. Champion”. Originally going into this trailer, I had no idea what to expect since I saw it on Playstation’s “State of Play”, but figured Dr. Doom would have a mostly villain oriented team.

Magneto makes sense considering he fits the same characterization as Doom. Magneto is a villain or an anti-hero, is a leader, and has strong beliefs and principles while having a rival on the opposite side. I feel like Green Goblin and Carnage make no sense within Doom’s team simply because they are often crazy and blood-lusted. I figure we’d have some more leader-types with strong morals and convictions. However, let’s talk about each of the characters.

MAGNETO — Considering I’m only used to seeing Magneto in CAPCOM’s light, this is going to take some getting used to. Rather than a rushdown character, Magnus seems more along the lines of a ranged fighter. This makes sense considering he uses magnetism and all of the abilities surrounding that specific mutant power. His poses and fighting style looks absolutely DOPE, and this iteration looks great.
GREEN GOBLIN — The glider being an assist and utilized within actual attacks looks GOOD. This character is definitely Arc System Works coded in how he feels more complex with the utilization of his glider and pumpkin bomb setups. I feel like he sounds very much like DC’s joker, but that’s just me. Looks incredibly cool with great art and character design.
CARNAGE — Been watching The Lord of the Rings trilogy within my Oshi’s server, and cannot help but to hear Smeagol. Regardless, I feel like this character is a fan favorite who has not seen a proper fighting game iteration as of yet. Reminds me a ton of Merkava from Under Night In-Birth with a few of his special moves, as well as his “Bloodbath” super move reminding me of Merkava’s EXS Attack.

Overall, I feel like some solid choices were made and the redesign of Magneto is one of the best I have seen versus their CAPCOM counterparts. Just curious to see the very last time and see if I can create a 4-Character squad I am in love with.
