Granblue Fantasy: Relink was a game I thought would NEVER come out due to how long it was in production. I wasn’t too acquainted with the series by that time, mostly because I hadn’t invested a ton of time within the characters or world. Yes, I’d watch season 1 of the Granblue Fantasy anime and was playing the fighting game, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, but that hardly delves into the characters or lore building.
Finally getting my hands upon the game, I must say I was BLOWN AWAY. The visuals, the combat, the music, everything was better than I anticipated, and I found myself investing so much time within the multiplayer aspect and grinding to make the best possible build I could. In fact, As of this writing, I have a staggering 675.8 hours in the game, and I did not even do everything; such as beating the harder version of the Lucilius fight. It definitely served as my Game of the Year.
MULTIPLE friends sent me this DLC announcement as soon as they can, even some I hadn’t spoken to in a particularly long time. They know I’m a fan, and they know exactly how hype I was going to be for any announcement related to Granblue Fantasy: Relink.
The first thing I was blown away by was the visuals. This game is absolutely beautiful and the effects are top-tier to say the least. It brought back all the memories I had and all the grinding that was necessary for me to get to where I needed to go. However, immediately we were greeted by some of the brand new characters.
I saw Beatrix (a scourge of mine in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising), Eustace, and then what appeared to be both Galanza and Lyria. These characters are all great choices. Beatrix is a close-ranged combatant who has a fiery personality and has a plethora of sword-based moves, Eustace is a long-ranged rifle-based character with energy attacks, Galanza is the large, tanky, powerful boss from the game, and Lyria is something akin to a summoner. I think they have choices to appease both long time Granblue Fantasy players (both of the mobile and fighting games), as well as those who entered into the fandom through Relink.
The story seems to surround itself around Beelzebub, someone who has me just as excited to face as Lucilius. I have no idea what everything will entail, but considering they’ve been working on this DLC for a while, I know it’s going to be jam-packed.
More-so, I wonder how they are going to change the fundamental gameplay and loop for the endgame. Considering they’ve had an adequate amount of time to know that people will no-life this game, grind it into dust, and ask for more; how will they handle the end-game? How will they improve characters that were definitely lacking like Id, and how will they tone done characters like Sandalphon? I CANNOT WAIT!!
The fact that this game has sold over 2 million copies is PHENOMENAL. I’m sure they were not expecting that, even with the hard work they poured into it. AMAZING. The team definitely deserves it. I’m also happy to hear that there is going to be a new story mode, but also that they’re going to be refining the combat.
I think it was smart to recap the story, considering that those who played long ago might have forgotten some aspects of it while those new to Granblue Fantasy: Relink would have no idea what was going on. Also, they went back over the essentials of the system and how everything works together: Party mechanics, progression, etc.
Also, they let it be known that there will be CrossPlay via Cross-Platform. You’ll be able to play with people on Steam, Playstation 5, Playstation 4, or Nintendo Switch 2. It’s amazing that they’ve managed to even bring along the people who are on a previous gen (Playstation 4), allowing anyone who owns the game to get in on the action without leaving behind any Skyfarers. Crossplay also greatly extends the life of the game by pooling the into community into one place.
NEW THREATS
The first thing that they show are the new enemies we are going to encounter. Tweyen and Seofon being boss fights is probably a new duo which replaces the Galanza and Maglielle. Definitely going to be fun, but considering I main Seofon at the moment, I wonder how that will work out? We also get something called the “Apocalyptic Ragnalia: The Heralds of Doom”; they look like upgraded monsters who will be harder to deal with.
They also mention Beezlebub, but say he’s of “Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising” fame. I like that they acknowledge the fighting game and how many people from the FGC (Fighting Games Community) will recognize him through that. Considering everything they’ve said, I am sure he’s a main antagonist of the new story; but I’ll have to wait and see to be sure.
CHAOS-TIER QUESTS
The game itself had three different tiers for their quests: Novice Skyfarer (Easy, Normal); Veteran Skyfarer (Hard, Very Hard, Extreme); and Zegagrande Legend (Maniac, Proud). Seems this new “Chaos-tier” will be above any of them. However, it seems that they will also offer rewards in-line with the greater amount of challenge they provide.
GAMEPLAY
Obviously there are going to be new gameplay mechanics and abilities; there would need to be to reinvigorate how things are played to keep them fresh. One of those things are going to be summons which will allow you to bring about some of the creatures you’ve fought across the story into battle. Also, it seems that “Burst”, which happens when everyone pulls off their Skybound Arts within a certain window, can also be a “Primal Burst” which will summon a Primal Beast dependent upon its element.
THE CONFLUX
The Conflux is a brand new mode which is going to be for solo play. It allows randomly generated enemies, hazards, and stages to appear for the player to take on. It gets harder as you get further, and you are awarded selectable buffs in a fashion similar to rogue-lite games. This will award materials to help build up weapons.
Not going to lie, this mode looks AMAZINGLY GOOD. I hate that they just kept it to single-player, as something like this could be endlessly replayable for those who just want a reason to team up and see how far they can go. I have a feeling that this will be multiplayer compatible sometime within the future if everyone pushes hard enough.
NEW CHARACTERS
There is going to be four characters, and I called everyone right except one: Maglielle. This means we are going to be treated to Beatrix, Eustace, Galanza, and Maglielle.
Beatrix being in-your face is definitely something I saw coming considering how she’s made in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. I love how they utilize her Delta Clock to make it where she’s able to be a Jill-of-All-Trades. More than that, she also has a specialized mode which ups her combo potential. I’m not going to play her, but I know many Bea fans will be going bonkers because of this.

The Closed Beta Test is going to be held from March 16th to March 19th, 2026. This will be a test run of the cross-platform capability, meant to see if everyone can play together smoothly without any issue. I’m sure it’s going to be available as an update to the current game which will allow access through a special code, rather than something along the lines of a standalone application which must be downloaded (but don’t quote me on that. I would love to be able to use my character, but maybe something fresh is needed).
For those of you curious, I’ll leave the sign-up and information here: The application period is open until February 27th, 2026.
