Remember whom you’re fighting for… Silver Lining Interactive is proud to announce that it is partnering with studio, Painted Black Games to publish the haunting, soul-shattering survival thriller, The Road of Dust and Sorrow by Painted Black Games.
A Road Into DesolationThe Road of Dust and Sorrow is a story-driven survival-horror adventure inspired by the mid 90’s thriller classics. Claw your way through decaying streets, bloodthirsty Dusters, locked rooms, and forgotten corridors, where every door could mean salvation… or your end. What matters above all else is keeping your daughter alive.
The Road of Dust and Sorrow immediately stood out as a rare gem. We know firsthand how passionate and meticulous the Dev Team are in their approach to storytelling, and we’re one hundred percent here to support it. The game looks, plays and feels beautifully soulful,” said Dan Fraser, Producer at Silver Lining. “It stays with you long after you’ve left. We couldn’t stop thinking about it.’’
‘I will literally shout it from the rooftops: YOU GOTTA PLAY IT’ Julia Galus, Community Manager at Silver Lining added.
With Silver Lining Interactive handling publishing, Painted Black Games can focus entirely on creating a truly unforgettable experience for their players.
I did not expect to care much for this game since I am normal not a fan of the survival horror genre. Hell, I’m not a fan of horror games in general because they are often slow-paced and focus upon jump scares, unsettling gore, and grotesque abominations instead of inflicting true dread and terror through psychological factors. However, The Road of Dust and Sorrow looks promising.
The sprite-based artwork looks incredibly good, and the animation which accompanies it is also quite good. The story’s premise is very believable for an apocalyptic scenario; a mother tries to do her best to secure the survival of herself and daughter. No idea what they’ll stumble upon along the way and how the cult will play into it, but it’s certainly a premise which can use the relationship between Katherine and Ava as leverage to pull heartstrings and create intense moments. I just hope that Ava isn’t completely weak and afraid, considering they’ve been dealing with Dusters and this insanity for a decade at this point.
About the GameIn The Road of Dust and Sorrow, a cure created to end famine becomes humanity’s ruin. The failed experiment twists people into feral creatures known as Dusters, driven by a relentless and primal hunger.
Ten years later, Katherine and her daughter Ava roam the broken remains of civilization in search of a safer future. Their presence draws the attention of a mysterious preacher and his cult followers, but the true threat is an ancient hunger that sees humans as fertile soil.
Claw your way through decaying streets, bloodthirsty Dusters, locked rooms, and forgotten corridors, where every door could mean salvation… or your end. Keep Ava alive, no matter what. You can lose the world. You can’t lose her. Every step pulls you deeper into a place that wants you broken. No one will save you. But you can fight. You can run. And you can still try to reach Sanctuary.
