If you’re unaware, Cygames also makes Granblue Fantasy, a mobile game which has been popular within the last few years due to it expanding out into a variety of mediums: Action RPG games (Granblue Fantasy: Relink), Fighting Games (Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising), and even Anime (Granblue Fantasy: The Animation)! We’ve seen some crossovers with the original Shadowverse, and I recognized Grimnir in Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond. Now, the entire next set labeled “Skybound Dragons” happens to feature the iconic sextet from Granblue Fantasy. Considering I’ve turned into a massive fan after consuming media (actively main Galleon in Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising as well), this has me HYPE.
With that being said, let’s go over the recent information given to us by Cygames in relation to what we can expect from this upcoming expansion.
New Keywords – Skybound & Super Skybound Arts- SKYBOUND ART – Activates when the card is played while its Skybound Art gauge is 10 or more. A card’s Skybound Art gauge is the sum of your current turn number and the number of allied followers that have evolved while it is in hand.
- SUPER SKYBOUND ART – Activates when the card is played while its Skybound Art gauge is 15 or more. A card’s Skybound Art gauge is the sum of your current turn number and the number of allied followers that have evolved while it is in hand.

Honestly, this was the first thing I saw when it came to the new expansion called “Skybound Dragons”, and I was INSTANTLY shocked to see that it was Zeta. Of course, I know her from the fighting game first and foremost, so seeing a familiar face outside of Grimnir (who’s a card) was amazing.
First off, her voice and expressions are definitely on point. I also really like her animations. I’m jealous that Swordcraft gets a guaranteed leader from this already impressive set, but that it’s one of the cutest characters in all of Granblue Fantasy on top of that.
Beyond that, I also see that we get a variant card style for “Lyria”, who’s the person responsible for making sure that the main protagonist of Granblue Fantasy does not die. I’m hoping that she’s a neutral and can be thrown into my mix (considering I need more 2 drops for Mode Abyss), but this looks impressive nonetheless. CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS SET!

Honestly, this is nothing new. We’ve basically got something for Compendium Rewards, which are things you get from gaining new cards related to “Skybound Dragons”; New Battlefest (which the last one was a mess) for your choice of one of the new premium sleeves featuring Vyrm, Gran & Djeeta, or Lyria; and finally new rewards and bonuses related to spending money on the game (along with release missions).
Considering that you get a guaranteed leader from the 4,000 crystal pack, I will probably go that route if it isn’t too expensive. Though I really only want the leader for Abyss, I’ll take most of them (except Ewiyar, don’t favor that one).
