For those of you who are unfamiliar, Yasmine is one of the four new characters coming to Street Fighter 6. She was first introduced within this trailer that also features guest character, Tifa Lockheart of Final Fantasy VII.
Yasmine’s character description is: A high schooler hailing from the Philippines joins the fight to search for her long-lost brother. Despite her shy and gentle demeanor, Yasmine beams with confidence whenever she uses her crescent-shaped karambit knife to dance around her opponents at high speed just like her Lolo taught her.
I believe all of us were surprised that she has a gameplay trailer releasing this early, and it makes you wonder what they have planned for the Evo Las Vegas Tournament. For now, let’s check out this trailer together and I’ll leave you my impressions!
I had no idea what to expect going into this — in fact, I expected things to be a more grounded and possibly “realistic” style. Thankfully Street Fighter has been spicing things up lately by adding insane twists onto things, and I should have expect that for Yasmine.
The first thing you notice is her burst of personality. Yasmine is a high-energy character that’s bursting at the seems with an enthusiasm that rivals Sakura passion for fighting when she first saw Ryu. It’s honestly the type of youthful fire which is really only possible for a young practitioner. Yes, Kimberly has it as well, but Yasmine is a burst of fresh air after so long.
The first thing I notice is that her gameplay style and her saying remind me quite a lot of “Talim” from the Soul Calibur series. In fact, I looked up what nationality Talim was after this trailer and found out she is Filipino, something that Yasmine also shares (in fact, if you check out the “Press Release” section, Talim is within one of her move names). I found them to be similar mainly to Yasmine’s wind element type of moves, acrobatic skills, and her “Like the wind!” mid-fight commentary reminding me HEAVILY of Talim’s.
Yasmine seems like a multi-hit machine, with a lot of her moves connecting to a myriad of blows. Tricky mid-air movement that is also possibly safe on block (ex version), means safe mix-ups into close-range pressure.
The vast majority of her gameplan seems to be getting her within the “Bayani Mode”, which seems to be the state in which her Karambit is powered up and shining blue. This seems to add additional damage to moves, follow-ups, and may also alter frame data. No idea yet, as a detailed explanation for Bayani mode was not included. I did see an EX Mutli-hit strike which ended in an attack similar to Nash’s Critical Art from Street Fighter V.
Overall, this character seems a lot of fun and someone I’d definitely play if my GPU was acting right (UGH!). Keep it up CAPCOM! So far, Season 4 for Street Fighter 6 is looking very promising!
Today, Yasmine cut loose to demonstrate the Filipino martial art of Eskrima in a gameplay trailer before her arrival in Street Fighter™ 6. Yasmine will be the first character coming to Street Fighter 6 Year 4 across PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch™ 2 on August 3, 2026.
Hailing from the Philippines, Yasmine learned how to fight alongside her Kuya (older brother) under the guidance of her Lolo (grandfather). Following the sudden disappearance of her brother, Yasmine put down her Karambit knife until FooTube videos of a certain French supermodel inspired her to cut a path to her lost sibling. On her journey of discovery, Yasmine will use various high-speed Eskrima techniques such as:
- Daloy ng Tubig: a quick forward-moving knife attack that can set-up or extend combos
- Alon: a follow-up attack from Daloy ng Tubig where Yasmine lashes out with a multi-slice hit that ends differently depending upon the strength used for the attack, with successful strikes placing Yasmine in a powered-up state (Bayani Mode)
- Talim ng Hangin: Yasmine spins forward in a low sweep that can either close distance with opponents or bait out their attacks based upon the strength used, with successful hits placing her in Bayani Mode
- Mukha ng Langit: Yasmine leaps into a front flip that can mix up opponents with either a forward swipe or an upside-down spinning back hit
- Lipad ng Agila: a multi-hit attack where Yasmine leaps into the air in a flurry of kicks
- Pangil sa Likuran: a swirling projectile that lashes out at varying speeds so Yasmine can chase down and open up her opponent
- Hiwa ng Kalangitan: Yasmine’s Level 1 Super Art sees herkick her opponent into the air, then slam them back down before transitioning into Bayani Mode
- Nakatagong Lakas: During Yasmine’s Level 2 Super Art she focuses her energy for a limited time boost that allows her to use special moves while staying in Bayani Mode. She can also use Linya ng Liwanag during this Super Art where she dashes past an opponent and attacks them from behind.
- Pamumukadkad ng Sampaguita: Yasmine’s Level 3 Super Art where she spins an opponent and gathers energy before pulverizing them in an all-out attack
Yasmine will be unlocked and ready to cut class (and her opponents) on August 3 for players who own or purchase the Year 4 Character Pass or Year 4 Ultimate Pass. Yasmine’s Outfit 1 showcases her in Eskrima combat attire, while Outfit 2 depicts Yasmine in her school uniform between bouts. Outfit 2 can be unlocked by maxing out her Acquisition Gauge in Avatar Arcade Mode or with Fighter Coins.
Yasmine is the first character to be released from the upcoming Year 4 roster including Arjun, Tifa from the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake Series, and Bosch. Yasmine’s release will also coincide with Battle Balance adjustments for the entire Street Fighter 6 roster, so check out the Battle Change List before maintenance starts.
