Senna was revealed a while ago for 2XKO. Basically, a leak showed off her and Akali, but we are just now getting to her actually being close to released.
I am a bit slow on the uptake due to not updating this website like I should. We are going to have her Reveal Trailer, Move List, Beginner’s Guide, and her Story. As always, I’ll give my impressions where it’s relevant.
The first thing that impressed me about Senna was the fact she looks AMAZING. I do not like too many characters in this game aesthetically — often feeling like no one fits my personal style. I feel like the costume design to the giant sword, the afro to the voice actress fits meshes so well together. It’s an absolute delight for me.
When it comes to her fighting style, I am also a fan…MOSTLY. Y’see, I really love her normal mode. The moves she does, the impact, the super, all of it. However, I am not a fan of her install. I do not care for the look of it, the move set, or any of the supers. The alternate mode is definitely something that is going to be integral at high-level play, so it’s not like I can just ignore it.
Senna looks amazing except for her alternate mode, but it very well may be something which eventually grows on me. Whenever I manage to get my hands on her, I can properly vet everything and see if I became a fan or not. I feel like she was so much better designed than some of the previous characters. Considering her and Akali both seem like worthwhile additions to the 2XKO cast, it feels like the surviving team members are doing a great job.
I am not quite sure if this is Senna’s story from League of Legends or something original for 2XKO. Seems she was trapped in a fight with an entity known as “Thresh” and ultimately lost. From that lost, she mastered the ability to use the other souls that were around due to her having a will strong enough to keep her form (it appears). At some point when Thresh’s lantern was broken she took the opportunity to escape, and is seemingly being pursued by Thresh.
I was hoping we’d get a small presentation on Senna’s life. Such as what made her become a fighter, what lead her to fight this entity known as “Thresh”, and what exactly the ability to manipulate the mist and souls did for her. Also, no idea whether Thresh is pursuing her because Senna managed to take a portion of his power, humiliated him by escaping, or simply see her as his prey he must pursue. This story did not do much of anything.
Senna definitely looks like someone I would play if they made her Wraith form more appealing. Considering the flashiness of her base form, I feel like her alternate form just isn’t as great in aesthetic, stance, or combo coolness. I feel like as a complete package she’ll be versatile and one of the character’s who rival Ekko in creativity — just not looking like my cup of tea.
I feel that gaining Wraith meter on block is too good if it’s rewarded for extended block strings and gives back in chunks. I think Senna’s ability to be an annoying zoner and then a mix-up heavy character similar to Ekko or Akali will make her the prime pick for top level. The ability to play to your opponent’s weaknesses means one character can solve multiple problems against different opponent archetypes.
I think that the Riot team did a very good job in designing her, just wish that I rocked with her Wraith forma lot more.
