Today at The Game Awards 2025, Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, unveiled Mega Man™: Dual Override, the twelfth mainline installment in the classic Mega Man™ series. The iconic franchise will make its highly anticipated return in 2027 when the all-new action platformer launches for Nintendo Switch™ 2, Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®5 (PS5®), PlayStation®4 (PS4®), Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.

It’s Mega Man and I’m happy it’s returning, but I’ll be the first to say I absolutely HATE how they’re doing this series. I feel like The Blue Bomber is at his best within the pixel-based games of the past instead of this new 2.5D adaptation that CAPCOM is trying to make work. Sure, it’s been good for the Street Fighter series and even Strider has benefited greatly from it, but the aesthetic that Mega Man carries helps the weight of its overall gameplay.
When they first revealed Mega Man 11 I thought the graphics were pretty bleh, and I still think that way now; in fact, I also felt this way when they first revealed Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and it was in 2.5D. I am hoping that we get more gameplay soon so I can properly judge things as I have no desire for Mega Man: Dual Override with its current aesthetic. Banging music, however.
This month, Capcom will host a special boss design contest for Mega Man: Dual Override where fans will have the chance to help Dr. Wily create a brand-new Robot Master to appear in the game. For details on how to enter, check out the contest’s official website.
