【Silent Hill f】Release Date Trailer & Impressions

It makes sense that we were going to be treated to a new entry within the Silent Hill series since the positive reception of the remake. It kind of reminds me how we are getting more Resident Evil games once those remakes happen to hit it big for CAPCOM. While I am typically not a horror game fan and don’t cover them, the setting for Silent Hill f brings out the weeb in me, so I’m going to show the trailer below and give you my impressions of it.

  IMPRESSIONS

The first thing I notice about everything happens to be the completely dead atmosphere. It’s gloomy and grey, and the two girls talking to each other seem acquainted, but the girl talking to our leading lady Hinako (Sakuko) seems to have some animosity towards her, “You Traitor”. I wonder if this plays a larger role, since it’s mentioned a different time towards the very end of Silent Hill f’s trailer as well. Approaching Sakuko on the bridge with a naginata, she calls out to her and see she’s been twisted into an abomination and still mutters those lines, “You Traitor!”.

The biggest issue is everyone’s disappearance. Sakuko even mentions that her Grandmother, who can barely walk, is also no where to be found. We see that eerie mist that the Silent Hill series is known for, and the twisted imagery that usually comes alongside it. The horrors found within the city are truly twisted and gruesome, some having erratic movement or seemingly the combination of two or more people. Some even appeared quite mannequin-like and others are massive with tendrils that ensnare.

A lot of these monsters, such as in one particular scene, seem like residents of the city that Hinako lives in. Each one seems to have befallen a terrible fate, and within their undead unrest they rise up against the living. There also seems to be the possibility of you meeting up with other survivors; but considering this is a Silent Hill game, who knows what their fate will eventually be. Probably wise not to get too attached to any specific person.

The protagonist is seen fighting back against these things with weapons she’d picked up from the ground; even a naginata at one point. Her plights are made even more obvious due to damage to the player, as even Sakuko’s sailor uniform for school has been torn in a few of the scenes, showing that damage to your attire can and WILL happen.

Overall, I will say that the game is something I’d probably play. It looks freaky, but not particularly scary. Like there is a story to be told which is menacingly entrancing, adding horror and unspeakable events as a means to adding on to that mystery. Definitely have my attention.
