【DAN DA DAN】Episode 10 Impressions

This episode had a lot of good things that I approved of; mainly that we got to see more into the weirdness which makes DAN DA DAN so appealing. Being greeted with a new character; a nurse named “Queen” who has a dominatrix motif. Then you’ve got the alien who’s working to give his son constant blood transfusions, which gives you a closer look into motives of the Peek-a-Boo style boxing alien from Episode 9. The fact that his blood and cow’s milk are the same thing let’s you know that evolution that takes place in different places can create odd combinations to us. Really reminds me how in the movie SIGNS aliens happened to be repelled by the fact water hurt them while humanity would die without it.

The most interesting part of this episode however, is the love dynamic between Okarun and Momo. Despite all the chaos and near death situation that happened in the previous episodes versus the aliens, and the embarrassment of being found stripped down after the battle, Momo still had the situation of Okarun and Shiratori on her mind. This let’s us know that the outburst that occurred several times within the previous episode was not settled simply because they were placed within a perilous situation, nor one that would take a lot of explaining later. This shows the growing affections between the two characters, and the atmosphere and chemistry was something great to witness.

At the very end however, we’re introduced to a NEW CHALLENGER; Momo’s childhood friend and first love, Jiji. Unlike Okarun who’s an otaku, scrawny, and very meek, this guy seems like the completely opposite; tall, athletic, and good-looking by comparison. This also spells bad news for Okarun if he’s beginning to develop feelings for Momo (if he even recognizes that yet) because of the fact she already loved this boy before, and if her blush has anything to say about it, still may have lingering emotions buried deep within her. Very interesting indeed. Cannot wait until Episode 11!
