Waifu Crush Wednesday | Zero Two (Happy Birthday!)

Waifu Crush Wednesday is modeled after the popular “#WCW” or “Women Crush Wednesday” that got famous after trending on social media. This editorial series focuses upon female characters in gaming, anime, and manga that I happen to like in one form or another. I will do my best to explain my affinity for that particular character.

Zero Two (Code 002) is the main female protagonist of Studio Trigger’s anime “DARLING in the FRANXX“. She is a character who is searching for her “Darling”, someone who was kind to her when no one else was.

To begin, I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZERO TWO!! Our darling’s birthday just happens to fall on Waifu Crush Wednesday, so I had no choice but to dedicate this week’s WCW to her!

One of the best things about DARLING in the FRANXX happened to be Zero Two; she was cute, she was assertive, and she had an undying loyalty to her “Darling”. The debut of Zero Two instantly made her waifu material, and rightfully so. In fact, I will say she is the core reason many people were glued to DARLING in the FRANXX outside of it being an anime done by the notorious Studio Trigger.  In fact, I had to write an editorial defending Ichigo when she did something that heavily impacted Zero Two.

I loved how frolickly Zero Two was when she first appeared; the way she seemed so jolly and promiscuous, even more so when you realize why she behaved the way she did. I love how she unabashedly shows her affections for our protagonist and also finds herself selflessly trying to protect him.

To be honest, there is not a lot I find myself disliking about Zero Two’s personality and her demeanor. Definitely was my favorite character from DARLING in the FRANXX, even if I found myself disliking the anime when everything was said and done.  Zero Two’s design was memorable, the character was adorable, and she had an insane amount of loyalty I feel is not seen enough in anime.
