One of the things that we can expect during EVO Las Vegas is that most major fighting games will be having an announcement of some sort. Street Fighter 6 has been INFAMOUS for having their releases leak ahead of schedule for what seems like every year since the last whenever. The teaser trailer for Crimson Viper is no exception to this rule; however, they showed it off anyway before the Top 8 for Street Fighter 6 regardless. Let’s check out this teaser trailer.
The very first thing that I noticed was that they made her design a lot more sexy. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that her outfit in Street Fighter IV was sexy as well, just that it was less obvious in her original design since it didn’t go out of its way. The outfit that appeared in Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds simply had her shirt unbuttoned with the tie between her breasts; only the fact that her shirt was unbuttoned made it revealing. This new outfit has a purposeful boob window with no real reason for the tie being there except for aesthetic purposes, and she also appears to have on no bra (while it could’ve very much have been present on her first costume), not to mention the garter around her thigh. Hair is also not restricted by the more business-looking french braid she had before.
The grab that C.Viper does on M.Bison (Dictator) feels like it could be her back throw, or possibly a command grab? Nothing really is shown gameplay wise, but that’s par for the course. I think many people are worried about how they toned down Sagat’s Tiger Shots for Street Fighter 6 and the overall direction of more simplicity the series is leaning in. C.Viper was a complicated, execution monster that could make the most of things if you were more mechanically savvy in addition to the other skills needed to succeed in fighting games. Rewarding those who are a master of input and execution is a dying practice amongst more modern fighters, thus the core of what C.Viper players revered and fawned over may simply not exist within her Street Fighter 6 iteration; but we’ll have to see.
