Wolf Hawkfield is a fighter from the Virtua Fighter series. A new trailer has been released for the upcoming new Virtua Fighter project.
Within the new direct for Virtua Fighter, they have said that the motivations for fighters are something that they’re integrating into the new game. That we will see more of characters personalities and reasons for being there, and the first one we get an official teaser trailer is Wolf Hawkfield despite the fact we’ve already seen what appears to be Akira Yuki and Sarah Bryant.
I’m not too familiar with the Virtua Fighter series overall; I’ve played the 4th and 5th installations on Playstation 2 and Xbox 360 respectively. I’ve no real idea the background and history of the characters, but I’m guessing that they’ve possibly never really had much considering the developers stating that they will make the motivations for characters clear along with their personalities.
This introduction is very reminiscent of professional wrestling introductions you’d get in major organizations like WWE or AEW. I think his costume is pretty cool, and they’ve even showed Wolf with a jacket during the Virtua Fighter direct. However, I will say that his current face reminds me HEAVILY of “Ganondorf” from the Nintendo series “The Legend of Zelda“.
I think the trailer in itself is good with showing the graphics, presentation, and overall direction that Virtua Fighter‘s new project is going with returning characters. Redesigns, more personality, and possibly the hint at something of a story or arcade mode. Despite everything, the proof is within the gameplay as theatrics and aesthetics are nice but aren’t the meat of fighting games. So far, so good, but the proof will be in the pudding.
