Thursday, August 9th marked the 5th tournament for THE REAPER NIGHTMARE TOURNAMENT SERIES | 死神の悪夢トーナメントシリーズ for BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle! 10 entrants came together to battle it out to see who was the best!
This is the lowest amount of entrants we have ever had for a tournament, and I believe that something needs to be done to spark more interest in netplay tournaments that are during the week! Whether this is due to declining interest in this tournament series, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, or simply because school is starting, something must be done! While this is all well and good, I think me and the Team Shinigami staff need to create more incentive to enter these tournaments, which I will be taking care of in the future! Overall though, the tournament proceeded very smoothly with minimum hiccups and no lag issues this time around!

IMPRESSIONS — Overall this was a good tournament with some very good matches. We had a lot of killers in this bracket, which included Ulquiorra and DonSisqo, both previous winners of The Reaper Nightmare Tournament series. Rennikz however, managed to take it with his impressive play that has only gotten sharper week-by-week. Hopefully those that are regulars continue to show up and put on a great performance as they have during these weekly tournaments for BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle!
Highlights
- Rennikz is our winner for RNTS-6-BBCTB! His Kanji/Ragna team has continued to improve, and he managed to beat newcomer REVOLUTION_023 on the Winner’s side of Grand Finals with a definitive score of 3-1.
- BananaMontanaX, our 2nd place finisher from RNTS-3-BBCTB, ended up getting 3-0’d by “The Randomizer” killaboss2025 in his very first match. This was both shocking and highly amusing to watch.
- xSTURMx ended up getting disqualified in his very first match against our first champion, Ulquiorra, because he was not present in the Discord. I feel like he would have did way better and potentially have learned from his loss if he would have had 2 matches instead of being handicapped by being DQ’d out of one.
- REVOLUTION_023, a newcomer to the RNTS series, managed to come in 2nd place losing to veteran Rennikz. He had a very good showing throughout the tournament, and even winded up eliminating the RNTS-5-BBCTB winner, DonSisqo with a score of 3-2.
