While we understood Warwick was going to be released because of the “leak” earlier this week, we didn’t officially get a good look at him until the official cinematic for 2XKO was released. Now that all of the excitement for his arrival is at its peak, Riot Games has given us the gameplay trailer for Warwick!
Check it the official gameplay trailer for Warwick, along with my impressions below!
I don’t think there has been many wolf based characters, so the immediate ones that come to mind are John Talbain from Vampire Savior and Sabrewulf from Killer Instinct. I figure that this character would at least have palettes with homage to these characters, considering that Blitzcrank got a color palette reminiscent of Sentinel as he is portrayed within the Marvel vs Capcom series. While they did not show any alternate colors, would’ve been cool if they did.
This gameplay mostly focuses upon what appears to be a basic showcase of what he plays like (it’s gameplay trailer, it only makes sense). While this isn’t my type of character considering he’s big without being a grappler, and is anthropomorphic. However, the design is rather sick and his attacks look rather savage and bestial. More than that, his mechanic looks pretty insane considering it’s the opposite of Nagoriyuki’s Blood Rage in the sense that Bloodlust seems to aid rather than hinder.
“See the monster they made!”. Warwick’s level 3 is positively SICK! I think it’s great, and also shows he’s a sentient being with a lot of rage. Considering that I do not play League of Legends at all, I figured he was just a rampaging monster with a vendetta against humanity or was simply a being of primal fury with indiscriminate rage against all who’d cross his path. Doesn’t really seem that way, and I’m a bit more interested in the lore behind this series now.
Overall, while not my type of character, I think that Warwick will bring a good addition to the cast. Considering I did not like the addition of Teemo or Warwick, I am hoping the character we get for Season 1 of 2XKO is a bit more to my liking.
