Considering the popularity of Street Fighter VI, I was VERY confused on why more content wasn’t being made as far as sellable DLC. You’ve got a fanbase which craves it, you’re a large enough company to have the resources for it, so why aren’t you collecting in a lucrative opportunity? However, I had to remember that CAPCOM has basically entered into a new golden age; Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, and Monster Hunter have all been doing well, selling MILLIONS of copies each with relatively good reviews (except for PC Optimization). This isn’t the starving CAPCOM that badly needs a way to flip a return on its investment.
With that being said, those of us who are fans of Street Fighter have been practically begging to get new content to be used in “Fighting Grounds” rather than the more casual Hub area. Revealing Outfit 4 was unexpected, but let’s check them out and get my opinions.
This round features costumes for Kimberly, A.K.I., Cammy, Chun-Li, Jamie, Manon, and Luke. These are swimsuit outfits, which does make sense because it is summer, and also we’ve had themed outfits for other releases in Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter V.
Personally, I am a bit disappointed since I wanted something more unique and stylish; but that’s probably because I am currently not completely satisfied with the outfits present for my current main (Manon). Most of the costumes here are actually pretty good. I feel like they did right by most characters, but concept art vs in-game models can sometimes not translate very well, so here’s hoping that’s the case.
I think the best ones out of the lot are Kimberly and A.K.I., the worst ones I feel are Manon and possibly Cammy. Kimberly is just good with the bright yellow contrasting with her skin, blue on her toe nails, and even her hair is done great. A.K.I. is technically a swimsuit, but also feels like a Halloween costume; just fits her personality in my opinion. Manon’s is terrible because while she’s supposed to be fashion-esque, it doesn’t feel very sexy despite the fact the front is open with the front of her breasts showing provocatively. Cammy’s is just basic, but is saved by the tan and the tan lines; just really depends on what they do with her. I felt like Cammy could’ve did better with a different hairdo and not just a straw hat; maybe something more fancy considering she’s basically in a 1-piece swimsuit as her nostalgia costume anyway.
Overall, I’m just looking for the next costume at this point.
