【BLUE LOCK】Episode 30 Impressions

Blue Lock Episode 30 is titled “The Big Stage”. Finally we get a beginning of the opening moves of The Blue Lock XI vs Japan’s U-20 with Itoshi Sae. This episode shows a lot of promise, mainly because we get a glimpse of what are protagonists are up against.

Blue Lock XI against the Japan’s U-20 is interesting because we’ve seen what those within Blue Lock can do; from the evolution of their specific weapons to the honing of chemical reactions between players. We know how dangerous these tools are individually, and when fighting others present within Blue Lock up to 5v5. Having 11 of the best that Blue Lock can offer seems like it could be overkill, or could it? The interesting thing here is the fact that they are going up against a legitimate team spawned from top players in different positions who EXCEL at those positions rather than a makeshift team of nothing but Strikers (even though it was mentioned that originally Soccer was nothing but Strikers).

Besides Shidou and Itoshi Sae, we don’t know the capabilities of anyone else, but can only assume that they must be deadly considering they were able to make the U-20 and those in Blue Lock are supposedly the “Leftovers” (which is crazy when you think about how insane Rin is). Then you find out that Shidou won’t be around simply because he’s clashing with the top player AGAIN. So who is this “Sendou” and how does he compare to Itoshi Sae or Rin?

The opening of the match saw Blue Lock ripping through with its forward attackers, and Bachira’s dribbling was complex enough to wow the team and even the audience. Perfect passing happening as always, but the trajectory was seen through by Oliver Aika, the Goalie and Captain of Japan’s U-20. The fact that he amazed Isagi shows that Oliver is quite strong and maybe has a degree of field and spatial awareness that may only be come from the perspective of a defender-type specialist. Whatever the case, this means that we will see a firm clash of styles, and we will witness how Itoshi Sae and Sendou (U-20’s star player), link up to take on Isagi and Rin, as well as the rest of Blue Lock’s XI. This is looking good!!!~
