Publisher 4Divinity and developer Leap Studio today confirmed that the highly anticipated action roguelite Realm of Ink will launch on Xbox Play Anywhere in Spring 2026, arriving day-and-date with the game’s PC V1.0 release.
To mark the announcement, Realm of Ink is now featured in the Xbox Indie Selects Demo Fest, offering players a free, hands-on first look at its fast-paced ink-washed action. Running through the end of December 2025, the event highlights standout indie titles with exclusive playable demos available only on Xbox
The game itself looks pretty good; I’m not a complete fan of the aesthetics, but I understand it’s suppose to be ink-like and have a traditional Chinese feel to it. While being a Roguelite, it shares a ton of resemblances to the Hades franchise. I am not sure if that’s intentional, or whether it’s simply a symptom of the category and style of game that Realm of Ink aspires to be.
Regardless, I am very curious about the game’s story and the demo. More-than-likely I’ll check it out and let everyone know my thoughts on it.
A Glimpse into the Ink RealmRealm of Ink is a roguelite action game that uniquely fuses the artistic essence of traditional Chinese ink painting with the spatial dynamics of Western art, creating a visually striking experience where poetic beauty meets a tangible, dimensional world.
Blending this exquisite ink-style art with razor-sharp combat, the Xbox demo puts players in the role of Red, a swordswoman hunting the elusive Fox Demon. Along her journey, she uncovers a shocking truth: her life is part of a scripted tale, dictated by the world around her. To survive and shape her destiny, Red must break free from the story, defy fate, and rewrite her own path – one battle at a time.
The demo provides a substantial preview of the game’s foundation, covering content from the first two major chapters including:
- Rich Exploration: Traverse over 40 distinct maps and face 8 formidable boss battles.
- Dynamic Identity: Unlock 3 playable characters in the demo and switch between different combat forms at the base camp. The full game will feature 11 unique forms, including the Swordsman, Assassin, Summoner, and more.
At the heart of Realm of Ink’s gameplay lies the Ink Gems & Perks system, fully showcased in the demo with access to more than 40 distinctive items.
- Strategic Synergy:
Equip two Ink Gems and unleash powerful combo effects. Nearly every pairing creates a unique synergy and can even summon an ink-formed pet to fight at your side. - Endless Possibilities:
Discover Perks throughout levels and shops to amplify or transform your build. Mix and match them with your Ink Gems to trigger massive damage, dramatic battlefield effects, or additional pets. Every run offers new surprises and explosive potential.
Following a successful run in Steam Early Access, the team at Leap Studio has continued to refine Realm of Ink with regular content updates, improvements, and community-driven adjustments. The Xbox demo now gives console fans their first chance to experience the game’s evolved combat, stunning ink-style world, and roguelite depth ahead of launch.
